437 West 13th Street, New York City, USA
- Project Team under James Carpenter Design Associates, New York
Designed by world renowned artist, designer and glass master James Carpenter for the property's owner/developer, 437 W14th Street is located across from The Standard (hotel) and has direct access to the elevated High Line park in the historic Meatpacking District of New York City. It is a 215' tall prime office building with three levels of boutique retail at the base.
The sharp angular massing is sculpted by the surrounding historic fabric, buildings, streets and elevated High Line park which boarders the site's perimeter. In respect to its neighbors and environment, precise angles allow sunlight to bypass the glass tower at certain times of the day to shower them with natural sunlight.
The whole building is dressed with high performance low-iron glass to give it a sleek, transparent and light-weight character, in distinct contrast with its more heavy masonry-based neighbors. This elegant design creates a modern dynamic addition to compliment the high energy and high fashion of the Meat Packing District.
